Coast/Beach: There are extensive beaches on the coastline of Almeria, the nearest is 20 mins by car to Mojacar but there are also some unspoiled beaches. A 30 minute drive takes you to the natural park of the Cabo de Gata, Andalucia's largest coastal protected area, a wild and isolated landscape with some of Europe’s most original geological features and beautiful beaches.
Golf: For keen golfers there are 3 golf courses in the area, the first on the mountain, which is a 9 hole golf course in Cortijo Grande. Two new courses in the area: Desert Springs Golf Club 6179 metres, Par 72, this is the first desert golf course in Europe, and is built to the standard of the famous desert course in Arizona. Also Marina de la Torre 5700m, Par 72, positioned opposite the beach in Mojacar. Split into 2 distinct 9 holes on either side of the hill, overlooking the beach and sea.
Travel: Almeria is the nearest airport and is a 45 minute drive. Murcia and Alicante are about a 2 hour drive.
Distances: Just 2 hours away is Granada City and the Alhambra an ancient palace and fortress complex. It was the residence of the Muslim Kings of Granada but is currently a museum exhibiting exquisite Islamic architecture. Also the Sierra Nevada Mountains boasts the best snow and the longest skiing season in Spain, with 5 months of snow. It has 61km of ski slopes with 45 pistes and 6 off-piste routes.
Further details: Bedar is locataed in the Almeria province, this detached self catering accommodation is set just outside this beautiful Spanish village in the mountains behind the holiday resorts of Mojacar, Garrucha, Puerta Rey, Villaricos and San Juan and offers peace and tranquillity but with all the facilities of beaches, bars, restaurants and shops that you get from a holiday resort and is only a 20 minute drive away. The Costa de Almeria is located in the South East of Spain and is one of the warmest and driest regions of Spain with over 320 days of sunshine a year, it has a unique landscape of wide open plains, imposing mountain ranges and excellent unspoiled beaches. Bedar village, nestling in the lower slopes of the Filabres mountains, this picturesque and pretty village still retains many of its oldest cottages which stand firmly in it's narrow streets and alleyways, it has 5 restaurants, a small supermarket, bakery, tobacconist, post office and municipal swimming pool, but this is only open in June, July and August. This is a unique holiday rental, direct from the owners, who are onsite to help with advice on local events, fiestas, places of interest or just to help to make your holiday experience a relaxing and enjoyable one. There is also horse riding, scuba diving, go-karting, aqua park, water skiing, wind surfing, fishing, tennis and sports centres as well as green bowles. A car is recommended for getting around as you can also visit the cave houses at Cuevas de Almanzora or take a 45 minute drive to Tabernas for the magnificent Desert National Park and the Theme park of Mini Hollywood where many of the movie sets were used in the Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns. There is the ancient Andalucian city of Almeria where you can visit the huge Moorish citadel Alcazaba with views of the city, the Cathedral and coastline of Almeria.
